Jeff Arch's first novel is a great novel. It follows a group of friends from boarding school to middle age and explores how their lives intertwine in surprising and moving ways, when some longtime secrets are finally revealed. I found myself choking up at the end and I don't cry easily (my parents were WASPs, after all). Full disclosure -- Jeff is a virtual friend and I had the opportunity to read an earlier version of the book. His prose puts me to shame (yes, I write books too) and his storytelling skills are awesome. Well worth the read -- hopefully we'll see this story on the screen, little or big, sooner rather than later. The story begins with some kind of mystery you don’t understand the nature of and for a while you’re like FOR GOD’S SAKE WHAT HAPPENED ALREADY! Then you get wrapped up in the characters and by the time it’s revealed you’re like Okay wow, but the journey is the point anyway, right? And then you forget you were just along foe the ride and you’re like FOR GOD’S SAKE PLEASE LET THIS OTHER THING HAPPEN EVEN THOUGH MAYBE IT SHOULDN’T!!—and I can’t tell you how it ends.Stayed up way too late, twice, because I didn’t want to put this book down. Finished it a month ago and the Goody character has stuck with me. He’s like no one else ever.
